Newmore Primary School

What a week we have had so far with regards to ‘Newmore Now.’ The children have been out and about filming content for their show. We have also had other pupils hooked up to Go-Pros to get an insight to daily life at Newmore.

The children are absolutely loving this experience and opportunity and are developing a wide range of our Super 6 Skills, communication, creativity and self management are to name but a few but the confidence that is shining through is really something to watch!

We cannot wait to see the final film.

As part of our School Improvement Plan this year we have been thinking about how to support the children in their skills development. We have created our ‘Super 6 Skills’ which are linked through all areas of the curriculum and it clearly explains why the children needs skills for learning, life and work.

Skills Cluster Super 6 FINAL

On Friday, a team of pupils participated in the Ross Shire Sports Association Cross Country Championship at the Black Isle Show Ground in Muir of Ord.

On Thursday 5^th March some of the children form primary P1-4 went to the “Celebration of STEM” event at Eden court to showcase their “Little Lighthouse” project.

It was a great event and the children did a fabulous presentation to the judges.  They also took part in 7 mini stem challenges where they had to demonstrate a range of skills including teamwork and problem solving.

The children behaved brilliantly and had a fun day out.  They won the “Newcomer” award and received a certificate and a butterfly garden.

We are delighted to share that our Futsal Team were presented with the ‘Fair Play’ Award at the Invergordon Futsal Tournament.

We are very proud of them as this award is given to the team who demonstrate an excellent team spirit and an encouraging attitude towards others.

Here is our Futsal Team that are participating in the Invergordon Futsal Tournament this morning.

This tournament was organised by Jake Williams our Active Schools Co-ordinator.

Brilliant sportsmanship was displayed by all pupils, they worked fantastically as a team and had great fun.

The children are absolutely loving experimenting with the technology and acting out various scenes.

Today in art we are using clay. The children played with clay using techniques like rolling, squeezing, pulling, pinching, carving and joining pieces together.

We had brilliant bakers this morning who did a marvellous job of making pancakes for the whole school to enjoy. Not only were they developing a range of experiences and outcomes they were also working on our Super 6 Skills and School Values.
