TRAVELLING TO SCHOOL DURING ADVERSE WEATHER
It is the responsibility of parents or carers to decide if a pupil should attempt to travel to school in adverse weather conditions. The Education Authority encourages full attendance at school but in severe weather conditions the safety of pupils is much more important.
PROCEDURES FOR INFORMING PARENTS OF SCHOOL CLOSURE
On days of severe weather, a message informing parents as to whether the school is open or closed will be communicated to parents through our Seesaw and Facebook Page.
You can also access any information on our School’s Messaging Service. This information service can be accessed by dialling: 0800 564 2272 and using the PIN number: 04 2720
The website www.schoolclosures.highlandschools.org.uk will also be updated with information for individual schools on a daily basis.
Please note that in the event of severe weather, the decision as to whether a child should attend school is entirely down to each parent/carer and this decision should be made taking into consideration whether a child can safely make it to and from school.
Local radio stations issue news and weather bulletins on traffic conditions and school closures. Transmissions may not cover all households and may be subject to re-scheduling but should be helpful. Parents are advised to remain “tuned in” to ongoing road weather, or school information updates.
