It may only be November but we had great fun in the playground this week making the most of the snow fall!

This term we have workshops with Mikeysline where we are learning about the importance of our mental wellbeing and finding out about strategies we can use to help with this.

We all took part in ‘Odd Sock Day’ where we showed that it is okay to be different, and helped raise a small doantion for the charity.

Today we observed one minute’s silence at 11 o’clock to remeber those who died during the Wars.

We also visited the Poppy Scotland Bud Bus to find out more about Poppy Scotland and the work they do. We all got to make our very own poppy which was very special.

This year we have a group of children who have signed up for the Active Schools Cross Country competition which sees them competing at 7 different events between October and February. Well done Team Newmore.

Primary 1-3 have completed this as their Enterprise Project and did an amazing job filling 24 shoeboxes. Four representatives helped Mrs Rooney to deliver the boxes to the Evanton depot.

Well done P1-4, a super effort!

As part of the RNLI 200th Anniversary and Invergordon RNLI’s anniversary celebrations this year, they invited all of the local schools to enter an art and poetry competition. We attended the Awards Ceremony with two of our pupils and we were delighted when we were announced as the overall winners.

We recieved a £100 book token and a box of RNLI goodies by the Lord Liuetenant of Ross and Cromarty.

At the end of last session we completed a whole school sponsored walk with our cluster friends from Ardross Primary School.

We all climbed to the top of Cnoc Fyrish, rasing funds for our schools and Invergordon RNLI, as they are clebrating 50 years in 2024, as well as being the 200th anniversary of the RNLI.

Stormy Stan and his colleagues from Invergordon RNLI Station came to school to be presented with theri cheques. We raised an incredible £1370 for them.

Each week we have our local ministers visit for a whole school assembly. We enjoy listening to the stories Brian and Calum tell us, despite their terrible jokes!

This year we have introduced Values Assemblies where our pupils are rewarded with certificates related to the values of our school.

Primary 5-7 have Liam from Feis Rois in this term teaching Scots and Gaelic songs.

Primary 1-4 are taking part in the Roots Of Empathy programme this year. The programme teaches the children about feelings, their own feelings and the feelings of others. Shirley the instructor comes into school each Wednesday and some weeks we have baby Seamus and his mum visit. It is exciting watching him grow and seeing how he devlops and learning about empathy.
